Working groups
The Union has a number of working groups that focus on a specific issue or approach, providing space for members to meet and collaborate. Groups arrange their own meetings and share their progress with the wider Union on a regular basis.
Glossary group
The glossary group consists of a diverse and international group of concerned researchers, educators, practitioners, supportIng the key aim of the UCRF – to advocate whole systems change in fashion. The glossary refers to the collection of terms that is being generated as well as the ongoing process of glossarising.
Policies and Social Change group
In early 2023, three previous working groups – Indexes, Wellbeing & Degrowth in Fashion and Fashion & Politics – decided to regroup into one new working group: Policies and Social Change.
The group works on different sub-projects, such as an alternative matrix to the current LCA-based tools that dominate, and policy issues such as measures that will actually help to degrow the sector and enable a just transition.
Reading group
UCRF Reading Group is a diverse, inclusive and multidisciplinary community aiming to foster an activist knowledge ecology, accelerate collective consciousness and deepen our critical engagement with a range of reading materials. The group facilitates an inclusive conversation by approaching fashion from multiple facets and disciplines. We discuss how to diversify voices and ensure social and environmental justice within the fashion system to move beyond resource depletion toward a paradigm change.
