Projects

The Union undertakes a range of projects that seek to activate the manifesto in different ways. Some projects target key stakeholders, while others aim to engage a wider community in conversations around systems change in fashion.

Wikipedia edit-a-thon

Every year, a group of Union members jointly edit Wikipedia’s sustainable fashion pages, sharpening and extending the text in line with the ‘activist knowledge ecology’ profiled in our manifesto. With an average of 400-500 daily visits, we see this page as a critical entry-point and resource. Therefore, we aim to keep the information as reliable as possible.

Funding advocacy

UCRF periodically engages research funding bodies to initiate discussion on funding priorities. UCRF encourages research funding bodies to support new knowledge creation that is more relevant to and commensurate with the multiple global crises we face. Specifically UCRF seeks greater pluralism in funding priorities, including those which favour the long term, systems change, collaborative practice and moving beyond the growth logic.

Banners and badges

UCRF recognises the importance of having symbols and processes for like-minded people to gather around, and the value of having our presence noticed in the wider community. To that end we encourage members to create UCRF badges and banners.
